ARTIST BIO

Jeff Gillette is a contemporary American artist based in Southern California. He is best known for his subversive ‘slumscape’ paintings ironically featuring Disney characters. He is often cited as the inspiration for Banksy’s 2015 Dismaland theme park installation, in which he was a featured artist. His 2010 solo show at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica, “Dismayland,” turned him into a star in the artworld, generating massive sales and interest in his work, including from Banksy. The aesthetic and themes established here began to define him as an artist.

In 2015, Banksy contacted Gillette through his manager to purchase a “Minnie Hiroshima” painting (that became the official poster available at the Dismaland gift shop). Afterwards, he invited Gillette to be in a group exhibition in England at what was then described as “an abandoned theme park.” Gillette discovered upon arriving at the unlikely “beach town” Weston Super Mare, that this park was Dismaland. His pieces sold very quickly at the show. Based upon his success, Gillette began to show in London at the former Lawrence Alkin Gallery – now the Rhodes Gallery and internationally elsewhere.

Los Angeles based multi-media visual artist, painter and curator, Dianna is best known for her two-dimensional and three-dimensional works using recycled plastic bags - sewn together - ranging from small hanging pieces to room-sized installations. She has shown work in solo and group exhibitions at galleries and museums in the USA, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Africa. She is also Co-founder of the Plastic Pollution Coalition, a group that addresses the pervasive problem of plastic pollution. She was inspired to co-found the group by her work as an artist - because her chosen material is the ubiquitous plastic bag.

Sarah Maple is an award-winning visual artist known for her bold, brave, mischievous and occasionally controversial artworks that challenge notions of identity, religion and the status quo. Much of Maple’s inspiration originates from her mixed religious and cultural upbringing.

Sarah’s artwork, film and performances have been exhibited internationally at galleries and institutions including Tate Britain, Golden Thread Gallery and Tallin Art Hall. Her recent commissions include The Baltic, New Art Exchange and Sky Arts.

In 2007 she won the “4 New Sensations” competition, run by Channel 4 in conjunction with the Saatchi Gallery.

Todd Francis is an American artist born and raised in Los Angeles. For the last two decades he has created memorable and iconic skateboard graphics for a number of companies including Antihero (Todd created the original Eagle logo), Real, Spitfire, Stereo and Element. In addition, Todd has worked with brands such as Vans, Stance, HUF, Oakley and Firestone Walker, and his art has been shown in galleries around the world including Subliminal Projects, Fecal Face Gallery and 3131 Clement.

His work combines often-bleak humor with environmental and political themes, using a variety of media to convey his message. Todd is a monthly art contributor to Penthouse magazine. His work has been featured in numerous skate, art and culture magazines around the world.

Musician, actress, artist and environmental advocate. Lois has starred in many tv shows and films including Game of Thrones – as well as creating music for a number of tv shows and theatre productions.

Her house is currently full of plastic bottles as she experiments with creating art & sculptures out of plastic waste in order to create awareness of plastic pollution.

'This Plastic piece is a montague of my thoughts and energy field during lockdown. I have cut up plastic bottles to create a circular energy structure aligned in geometry to form an abstract motion of light, movement and positivity. In this I hope to inspire other artists to recycle or create art with their used plastic bottles' - Lois Winstone
